Nike Zoom Kobe V – Inspired by Soccer Boots

nike-zoom-kobe-v.jpg

Nike and Kobe Bryant today announced the debut of the Nike Zoom Kobe V, the brand’s lowest-profile and lightest basketball shoe to date. Bryant challenged Nike to make his signature shoe even lighter and lower than the Nike Zoom Kobe IV and they responded with the Nike Zoom Kobe V.

The new shoe features a 10 mm forefoot profile and weighs 10.6 ounces – one ounce lighter than the Nike Zoom Kobe IV.

The initial inspiration for Kobe’s low-profile shoe came from an unexpected place: the soccer field. “I watch a lot of soccer and have seen how the best footballers in the world make sharp cuts at top speed in lightweight, low-cut footwear,” Bryant said. “The demands they make on their feet and ankles aren’t that different from what I’m doing on the court, yet nobody assumes they should play in high tops.” Read the rest of this entry »

Two Generations of Cool: Jay Z v. Frank Sinatra…Who Ya Got?

sinatra-jay-promo-friday

Who sang New York City’s true anthem better? Frank Sinatra and Jay-Z both have recorded sensational hits declaring their love for the city that never sleeps. Sinatra’s 1980’s hit, “New York, New York” still lives in on people’s hearts today while Jay-Z’s catchy hip-hop tune, “Empire State of Mind,”has become the anthem for all celebrated NY sport victories. Jay-Z claims he’s “the new Sinatra” in the hit song also, but does the Hoboken-native Frankie still hold the title for the city’s anthem.

Leading off is Jay-Z’s “Answer the Call” September 11th performance, followed at 11:30 p.m. by “Frank Sinatra: The Main Event”, a concert which originally aired live Oct. 13, 1974.

Check your local listing for Fuse Channel or the MSG Network, I suggest you get DVR’d up too!

after the jump, Jays tribute to Frank at the AMAs….
